Migori man lynched over rape and murder of Grade 8 pupil

An angry mob in Migori County lynched a man suspected to have been involved in the rape and murder of a Grade 8 pupil at Magoto Primary School in Suna West.

The suspect, known only as ‘Daddy,’ was seized from police custody on Sunday and killed by locals.

Witnesses say residents overpowered officers who had taken him to various locations as part of their investigations.

Area MCA Erickson Omondi claimed the deceased admitted to killing the school girl before the mob lynched him.

Omondi called on the police to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the schoolgirl's murder and prosecute any other suspects who may still be at large.

Meanwhile, locals are urging the government to establish a police post in the area to curb the rising insecurity, citing multiple unexplained killings in the region.
